Dabangg

The movie about sheer power.

With a couple of supplementary sequences, unarguably the theme of the movie is Power. The story is about a powerful man and his own way of using his power.

Don't let yourself misled when I say "sheer power". Power is not just beating up people for fun. The power has to be used with the conscience of when, where, how and how much to use it. One of the scenes in the movie seems to be added deliberately just to prove this very point. In that scene, the protagonist (Chulbul Pandey) beats up his own brother for his wrongdoings. For the whole scene it looks like Chulbul is beating up his brother mercilessly (probably because of the childhood animosity between those characters). But the part after the scene, where Chulbul wipes away his tear, is a defining moment in the scene. It says that "even a hero like Chulbul, who was hated so much by his brother throughout his life, has feelings towards his brother". Also, he doesn't become less powerful just because he wipes a tear, the tear is about the regret that he had to use his power at his own brother.

Along with superb acting by Salman Khan, I would like to applaud for two more back stage people. The director, for making such a great movie on the theme "Power" and the lyricist of the song "Hud Hud Dabangg", for writing equally great lyrics on sheer power.
